4 Things That Make You a Cultural Fit for Our Rapidly Growing Climate Tech Company

Just about every company talks about culture, Crown works tirelessly to actually walk the walk. We don’t always nail it, but we do our best to improve each day. Our best performers possess these common characteristics, and we actively seek out others that share these traits. Conversely, to protect our culture, Crown parts ways with people that do not embody these qualities.

  1. You’re great at your job, among the best

For example, if you’re an engineer, you’re one of the best engineers that we’ve ever encountered, noticeably raising the “talent density” at Crown the first day you arrive. You’re an adaptive and driven individual with a desire to excel. You’re constantly working to improve your craft, and your peers recognize your prowess in your field.

2. You’re passionate about technology that can decarbonize the planet

Crown strives to incorporate sustainable practices, and this trickles down not only through our everyday actions as a company but our people as well. You’re deeply passionate about climate change, environmental sustainability, and green energy solutions. You believe that clean energy solutions are paving the way for a better tomorrow and embody that philosophy.

3. You’re a lifelong learner who thrives in a fast-paced environment

You’re a person who loves learning and working in a dynamic, sometimes even chaotic, environment. At Crown, you’ll learn a lot from your colleagues. You’ll also be expected to teach others what you know. On your first day of work, you’ll receive two books: No Rules Rules and Working Backwards. Both touch on our approach to culture, leadership, communication, strategy, and collaboration.

We regularly reference many of the concepts presented in these texts and extensively adopt aspects of the infrastructure that they introduce. You can expect a lot of required reading, listening, and learning. If getting paid to learn doesn’t excite you, Crown probably isn't a good fit. The problems that we’re solving at Crown are hard, otherwise they’d already be solved. You must revel in a startup atmosphere, where there exists tremendous uncertainty, moments of inevitable failure, and constant pressure to deliver solutions that the world desperately needs.

4. You’re a good person

Here at Crown, we value honesty and integrity. You’re kind, compassionate, and mindful in your everyday life, both personally and professionally. In general, you’re a good person. You might be a top performer but if you’re a jerk, we don’t want you on our team. Crown aspires to foster an environment that promotes growth and cooperation.
