Specializing in advanced techniques for the identification of lead pipes with minimal disruption
Element 82 specializes in the identification of lead pipes, supporting local water utilities efforts to meet U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) compliance requirements to inventory all unknown water service materials within their system.
Using advanced electric resistance technology, our team provides a non-invasive and non-destructive solution to identify the material composition of buried service lines.
1) Testing is conducted directly at the water meter, with no need for excavation. A handheld device equipped with an auto-fed cable and low-voltage conductivity probe is operated from the meter to assess the line. The technology delivers accurate results in real time, identifying whether a pipe is made of lead, copper, plastic, or contains galvanized components.
2) Readings are transmitted instantly to a secure cloud-based platform for analysis. If lead is detected, our team follows up with a swab test to confirm the presence of lead residue, ensuring the most precise and verifiable inventory possible.
